Once every great while, everyone's muse decides take a vacation on short notice. It happens to the best of us. But the show must go on with or without them. And when this happens, we must turn to our role models. Those who came before us who influenced the craft in ways we can only hope to one day. Today we would like to share with you one of Celeste's great inspirations. One photographer Celeste has admired ever since she could remember is Guy Bourdin. Below are 3 of Celeste's favorite photos and her thoughts on why they inspire her.
"Looking at this photo of these little girls today there is a softened shock factor. We see this all the time now. But the little girls we see today aren't as creepy looking as these ones. These girls look they have been made up for the coffin and not Toddlers and Tiara's. "
"What a wonderful display of femininity in a sort of mannequin fashion. Are they mannequins that are waiting to be put on display?
For a photo that was taken sometime in the 1970's, before fancy photoshop skin smoothing of the present, the Model's porcelain like look reminds of fresh poured cream. And the pastel colored fur is real not faux."
"RED LIPSTICK. The ultimate in Woman. Sophisticated and commanding.
It's a refreshing eye jewel to see an image with this virgin perspective. Not forced and not composited. Had I only been able to see Guy in the flesh right before he took this picture. His creation deserves my praise."
